Review: The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova

Okay, I admit it: I finally gave up on this one. I tried – for 250 pages I tried. I don’t like to start a book and not finish it, but I just couldn’t take it anymore. And I had such high hopes for this book. However,
getting though it became quite a task. The prose is so heavy with obscure historical details and yawning, lengthy descriptions that it’s hard to find the thrilling story beneath it all.
Perhaps one day when I have copious amounts of time and don’t have two, foot high stacks of books waiting to be read, I’ll revisit this story of Dracula. I’m sure the adventure to discover who he really was and if he still lives is worthwhile, I just couldn’t wade through all the extra stuff.
