Review: The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern

I knew from the very first sentence that I was going to love, adore and devour this book. Erin Morgenstern’s magical, mystical world of the circus that “arrives without warning” and only opens its gates at night is perfection. Overflowing with such enchanting things as a garden made entirely of ice, a tent full of bottled memories, fabulous dresses that change color and a wishing tree heavy with candles, this book is a magic lovers dream come true.

Not only is the fantasy divine, but the forbidden love story and mystery completely engaging. The two main characters, Marco and Celia, both “enchanters” or real life magicians, are caught in a game of skill, the night circus their playing field. Only one can win and only one can live. And so things grow very complicated when the two fall madly in love.

Love, love , love it! Wish I could read it for the first time again.

Content note: mild violence and one tastefully written sex scene without any direct references
