New Picture Books the Kids and I Love

The kids and I cannot get enough of these new picture books. All of them are delightful – both to read and look at.

1. Balloons Over Broadway: The True Story of the Puppeteer of Macy’s Parade by Melissa Sweet
This book is so much fun, both the true story and the interesting, mulit-media illustrations. I mean, what kid doesn’t love balloons, especially big ones that look like animals and characters.

2. Swirl by Swirl: Spirals in Nature by Joyce Sidman and illustrated by Beth Krommes
I love Beth Krommes’ art and this nonfiction picture book is fascinating. Short text, hidden facts and brilliant illustrations.

3. Ladder to the Moon by Maya Soetoro-Ng and illustrated by Yuyi Morales
I met Yuyi at the UVU conference last month and she is an amazing person. Her illustrations are just as incredible with a lot of heartfelt details. Combined with a sweet story of family this book is a treasure.
