Allow me to make the formal introductions to some of the people who live inside my head and will soon be alive in the pages of a book. These are the three main characters of my upcoming novel, BLOOD MOON.
I hope that you love them as much as I do (is that too lame to say out loud?)
Willa is a witch with the Gift of Dreams and the Power of Spirits, but she doesn’t know it yet. All her life she’s had dreams of real events: past, present and future. And then there are the ghosts, her best friend included.
At eighteen Willa has just finished high school and looks forward to her first semester of college with plans to become a historian. She’s tall, athletic with creamy tan skin, long waves of chestnut hair and eyes as blue as a mountain lake. She volunteers at the Twelve Acres museum, trusts easily and feels deeply.
One summer night, while working at the local diner, Simon walks in and she feels him with every part of her body and soul.
Simon is a witch with the Gift of Mind and a powerful ability to heal. Simon senses other’s emotions, intentions and if there is an injury all he has to do is touch the person to heal it. All his life he’s fought the strange nature of what he can do, keeping to himself, fighting his austere parents and setting lofty goals of medical school to put his powers to good use.
Simon stands at six foot four and has butter-blond hair that spirals off his head in loose curls. His eyes are the color of dark chocolate, his jaw square and his body solid, muscular. Logic and reason rule Simon’s mind and at nineteen he is mature, serious and hard working. But despite his need for control, his life is always a little bit out of control. At least, until he meets Willa.
Meet the bad guy (I love a good, complex bad guy). Archard is a Dark witch with the Gift of Fire. Hot emotions and a flaming desire for power rule his actions. Intimidating and devious, Archard is tall and thin, dresses only in the finest Italian designer suits and his black hair and goatee are always expertly trimmed and styled. His eyes are cold, the color of steel. (Think Loki in the movie Avengers. When my husband and I first saw the show, Loki came on screen and we both turned to each other and said, ‘That is Archard!’)
Archard plans to form the first Dark Covenant (the most powerful of witch circles) since the Dark Ages and he will do anything to make it happen. Including, attacking and manipulating a young couple, brand new to witchcraft.
There are, of course, many more characters in the book, but, for now, I’ll leave it with these three.
